songs for katla : recordings made 2019-2022 in bailey, co. usa at amj centraal co. assembled/deconstructed winter 2026 at amj centraal tx.

the end of 2019 brought covid to the mountains of colorado. 2019 – 2022 was brutal as covid and its forced physical/mental isolation, among others. songs for katla is an attempt at interpreting the aural and visual hallucinations during covid illness, but also, mainly, the auditory hallucinations due to the amount of alcohol consumed. random voices, blurs, bleeps, pink and brown noises, buzzes, noisy rhythms, voices talking as if real. at times they seem real; that is when the anxiety and self-doubt join in. the door knob always knows..

songs for katla – a hesitant journey thru aural hallucinations in 2 parts –
amj :5u modular, bass, shortwave/field recordings (park county, co.), voice/vocoder, ty in spirit.

this room serves as a deliberate framework for acoustic and spatial exploration. through precise signal paths, resonant frequencies are captured, filtered, and re-circulated to isolate the shifting thresholds between silence and active sound. the accompanying audio tracks reflect these transitional experiments, utilizing generative structures to map out deep architectural volumes within a black, unyielding void. 💀

as layers accumulate, the boundary between intentional composition and environmental artifact dissolves entirely. each element remains fixed to the grid yet behaves organically over time, creating a static tension that mirrors the physical medium itself. use the audio controls above to cycle through the specific phase alignments captured during these sessions.
